The University of Kentucky has moved right to the top of our Final Ranking of the Top 60 Recruiting Classes for the Class of 2015 with the late additions of 6'4 Jamal Murray from Orangeville (Athletes Institute) ON and 6'4 Mychal Mulder from Vincennes (JC) IN and Duke University has done likewise into second place by adding 6'8 Brandon Ingram from Kinston (H.S.) NC and 6'1 Derryck Thornton from Henderson (Findlay Prep) NV to a recruiting class that already included 6'11 Chase Jeter from Las Vegas (Bishop Gorman) NV, 6'5  Luke Kennard from Franklin (H.S.) OH, and 6'9 Antonio Vrankovic from Boca Raton (Pine Crest) FL.  If you will recall, Murray was ranked #32 nationally in the Class of 2016 by the HOOP SCOOP, which was prior to when he reclassified up a year into the Class of 2015 so that he could graduate from high school a year early, and he was often the best player on a team that also featured 7'0 Jr Thon Maker from Orangeville (Athletes Institute) ON when we saw them play on numerous occasions last winter..  Mulder was one of the top snipers in the junior college ranks this and he was good enough to take home First Team Junior College All-American honors this past season.  Ingram, who is just oozing with athleticism and potential, was ranked #20 in our Final Ranking of the Top Players Nationally in the Class of 2015 and Thornton, who also reclassified up a year in order to graduate from high school a year early, finished ranked #15 on that same list.

And making the story about the University of Kentucky finishing ranked #1 in our Final Ranking of the Top 60 Recruiting Classes for the Class of 2015 even more impressive is the fact that the Wildcats missed out getting on a number of the top players (i.e. Jaylen Brown, Cheick Diallo, Malik Newman, Ivan Rabb, Stephen Zimmerman, Brandon Ingram) that were still available in the senior class nationally heading into the Spring Signing Period.  In other words, it looks like John Calipari hasn't look his touch, as the Wildcats have finished with a recruiting class that has been ranked as high as #1 in the nation every year since he took over the reigns of the Wildcats in the spring of 2009.  As for Duke, Thornton promises to be the heir apparent to Tyus Jones, who was the catalyst behind the Blue Devils run to the National Championship, and Jeter, Ingram, and Kennard also promise to be important pieces to the puzzle next year.

It also looks like the Southeastern Conference, which has five of the top 20-ranked recruiting classes with #1-ranked Kentucky, #6-ranked Texas A&M, #9-ranked Auburn, #13-ranked LSU, and #18-ranked South Carolina, and the Pacific-10 Conference, which also have five of the top 20-ranked recruiting classes with #5-ranked Washington, #6-ranked Arizona, #15-ranked Oregon State, #17-ranked Oregon, and #19-ranked California, are the big winners when we start breaking recruiting down by conference.  And the strength of the Southeastern Conference's recruiting becomes even more apparent when we looks at the Talent Rating Average Per Recruit, as Kentucky tops this list with an 8.6 Talent Rating Average Per Recruit, LSU checks in a #2 with an 8.3 Talent Rating Average Per Recruit, and Texas A&M is tied at #5, along with Arizona, Syracuse, and Maryland, with a 7.0 Talent Rating Average Per Recruit.

If you will recall, we rank every player in each recruiting class on a 1-10 scale, whereby, a top five-ranked high school player nationally is worth 10 points, a player in the 6-10 range is worth nine points, a player in the 11-40 range is worth eight points, a player in the 41-70 range is worth six points, a player in the 71-100 range is worth four points, a player in the 101-300 range is worth three points, a player in the 301-1000 range is worth two points, and anybody not ranked among the top 1000 players nationally is worth only one point.  Junior college players and prep school players are factored in accordingly.  However, it has always been the editorial policy of the HOOP SCOOP not to include transfers.

On the other hand, our rankings do factor in both quality and quantity, which explains why the University of Washington, which features an eight-man recruiting class that includes Malik Dime from Indian Hills (JC) IA, 6'8 Marquese Chriss from Elk Grove (Pleasant Grove) CA, 6'5  De'Jounte Murray from Seattle (Rainier Beach) WA, 6'8 Noah Dickerson from Montverde (Academy) FL, 6'0 David Crisp, from Wolfeboro (Brewster Academy) NH, 6'6  Dominic Green from Renton (Hazen) WA.6'6 Matisse Thybulle from Bellevue (Eastside) WA, and 6'8 Devenir Duruisseau, from Waynesboro (Fishburne Military Academy) VA, has the #5-ranked recruiting class.  And, while none of these guys are high profile big name guys or McDonald's All-American's, Dime and Chriss are good enough to fall into the 41-70 range nationally, Murray does likewise in the 71-100 range, Dickerson, Crisp, and Green are all borderline top 100 players, and Thybulle and Duruisseau are good enough to be in the 101-300 range nationally.  In other words, Lorenzo Romar and his staff did a great job of bringing a lot guys who should be able to make an immediate impact next season.

And what what a school like Indiana, which checks in with the #46-ranked recruiting class, but also landed 6'9 Thomas Bryant from Huntington (Prep) WV, who is #21 nationally in the Class of 2015 by the HOOP SCOOP and is exactly what the doctored order for a team that a had a major hole to fill in the middle next year?  And this too is important, because sometimes filling an immediate need is more important than signing a lot of players or having a great recruiting class.  Another great example of this is the University of California's three-man recruiting class, which finished ranked #19 in our Final Ranking of the Top 60 Recruiting Classes for the Class of 2015, but should immediately move from a middle of the pack team in the league (the Golden Bears were 18-15 overall and 7-11 in the league a year ago) into a contender next year with the likes of 6'6 Jaylen Brown from Marietta (Wheeler) GA and 6'11 Ivan Rabb from Oakland (Bishop O'Dowd) CA.  If you will recall, we're talking about a pair of recruits who were ranked #3 and #6 respectively in our Final Ranking of the Top 100 Players Nationally in the Class of 2015.

HOOP SCOOP FINAL RANKING OF THE TOP 60 RECRUITING CLASSES FOR THE CLASS OF 2015

On our rating 1-10 rating scale a top five player nationally is worth 10 points, a top 10 player nationally is worth nine points, a player in the 11-40 range nationally is worth eight points, a player in the 41-70 range nationally is worth six points, a player in the 71-100 range nationally is worth four points, a player in the 101-300 range nationally is worth three points, a player in the 301-1000 range nationally is worth two points, and anybody not ranked among the top 1000 gets one point.  Junior college and prep school are factored in as if they were the equivalent of a high school senior.

Editor's Note:  NCAA Guideline require scouting services to write a profile on each player that is identified and, as a result, we've included several lines about all of the players who are not ranked among the top 300 seniors nationally by the HOOP SCOOP or have not been talked about prominently in our coverage of the numerous events that we've attended during the course of the last year.

Joseph Acuil, 7'0, C, Neosho County (JC) KS - We're talking about a long skilled athletic big man who is an excellent rebounder, great shot blocker, and such a terrific defender that he was named the Jayhawk East Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year.  He also is good enough to be ranked among the top big men in the junior college ranks and is a great catch for Baylor.

Sacar Anim, 6'5, 2G, Minneapolis (De La Salle) MN - Not only does he appear to be a diamond in the rough, but this 6'5 athletic 2-guard excels in the open court, is good at finishing off transition, is a lock-down defender, and he started to put up big numbers as he gained convince and continued to improve this past season.  He promises to be an excellent roll player at Marquette, but has the potential to evolve into a quality high level player.

Dominic Artis, 6'0, PG, Diablo Valley (JC) CA - If you recall, this is the guy who started 25 games as a freshman and averaged 8.5 ppg and 3.2 apg on a team that won 28 games and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 prior to falling prey to off-the-court issues two years ago at the University of Oregon.  He also was ranked #18 nationally in the senior class by the HOOP SCOOP when he was the starting point guard at Henderson (Findlay Prep) NV during the 2011-12 season and is good enough to take the UTEP program to an even higher level.

Josephus Bell, 6'4, PG, Northwest Florida (JC) FL - This 6'4 point guard has a great motor, excellent speed and quickness, and he averaged 17.4 pp and 5.3 apg and shot 47% from behind the arc en route First Team NJCAA All-American honors.  He also led his team to the 2015 NJCAA Championship in Hutchinson, KS and is exactly what the doctored order to complement all of the good wing players in Florida State's current recruiting class.

Tyrell Bellot-Green, 6'7,  WF, Hill (JC) TX - Bellot-Green appears to be exactly what the doctor ordered to complement the three high profile guys in UNLV's current recruiting class, because he's evolved into a very good 3-point shooter and has that good old-fashioned toughness around the basket, which allows him to get more than his share of rebounds, tip-ins, and put-backs.

Chris Boucher, 6'10, C, Northwest (JC) WY - He's got a great combination of size, athleticism, and mobility, is one of the best shot blockers to come down the pike in a long time, and he's good enough to have taken home National Player-of-the-Year honors in the junior college ranks while averaging 22.5 ppg, 11.8, and 4.7 bpg this past season.   Needless to say, he's a major steal and one of the last pieces to the puzzle in the University of Oregon's current recruiting.

Jaylen Brantley, 5'10, PG, Odessa (JC) TX. - This strong physical tough hardnosed athletic combo guard is capable of both running the show and putting up prolific numbers and it appears he picked up this past season in the junior college ranks where he left off in his high school days when he played for Leo Papile in the BABC club team program.  He signed with the University of Maryland and the fact the Terrapins will have him for  three years is just an added bonus.

Rasheed Brooks, 6;6, WF, Southwest Tennessee State (JC) TN - What makes this 6'6 athletic wing forward such a great catch of Ole Miss is the fact that he is a terrific scorer and a great outside shooter to the tune of 44% from behind the arc.   He also was good enough to be ranked among the top 2-guards in the junior college ranks this past season.

Travon Bunch, 6'10, C, Chapel Hill (Score Sports Academy) NC - He's still a long way from being a finished product, but it's hard not to like his length and  athleticism, ability to rebound and block shots, and upside and potential and, as a result, he is a very intriguing catch for the University of South Carolina.

Simon Carter, 6'9, PF, Charlotte (West Charlotte) NC - Carter has big time athleticism, is explosive to the rim, and he uses his tremendous length to finish strong in the paint and be very effective on the boards.  He also is one of those under the radar screen guys nationally and is a steal for SMU.

Ricky Council, 6'4, 2G, Hudson (Moravian Prep) NC - This 6'4 athletic 2-guard is a tremendous shooter and scorer, as is evident by the fact that he had one game where he finished with 10 3-pointers and 53 points and averaged 28.4 ppg this past season.  We also understand that he's matured and gotten stronger since his high school days and, as a result, he is expected to step in and make an immediate impact at Providence next season.

Malik  Dime, 6'10, C, Indian Hills (JC) IA - His offensive skills and post moves still need a lot of work, but he runs the court and moves extremely for his size, is very active on the boards and is a great shot blocker, and he was one of the most highly touted big men in the junior college ranks, which makes him an important piece to the puzzle in the University of Washington's eight-man recruiting class.

Ray Doby, 6'7, PF, Delafield (St. John's Northwest Military) WI - He originally verbally committed to DePaul when he was a high school senior a year ago, but then went the prep school route and has a good combination of quickness, athleticism, and toughness and we think he is an excellent catch for South Carolina.

Damyean Dotson, 6'5, WF, Houston (JC) TX - This 6'5 high energy versatile slashing athletic wing forward got a second chance when the University of Houston signed him this spring.  If you will recall, we're talking about somebody who started 69 out of 70 games prior to being dismissed from the team a year ago at the University of Oregon.  This past season he worked with John Lucas while he sat out and got his associates degree.

T.J. Dunans , 6'5, 2G, Columbia State (JC) TN - We're talking about a "gifted scorer" who plays above the runs, plays with a lot of intensity, creates for both himself and his teammates, and was named the Pre-Season National Junior College Player of the Year by the Sporting News.  He also is tremendous catch for Auburn University.

Xavier Dupree, 6'9, PF, Paris (JC) TX - This 6'9 University of Houston bound 4-man has good length and athleticism, the ability to rebound and score both inside and from out on the perimeter, and a lot of still untapped upside and potential.

Tankley Efianayi, 6'5, WF, Daytona State (JC) FL - This 6'5 athletic wing forward is extremely versatile, can score in a variety of ways, knows how to defend, and he got it done while playing against some of the top competition in junior college ranks this past season.  He is currently the #31-ranked junior college player in the country by 247Sports.com and appears to be a major steal for Central Florida.

Carlbe Ervin, 6'3, 2G, Connors State (JC) OK - Ervin has a great combination of toughness, leaderships skills, versatility, and athleticism, which he uses to make a living slashing to the basket and creating for his teammates.  He also rebounds extremely well for his size, is good enough to be named a First Team NJCAA All-American, and appears to be is a a great catch for Kansas State.

Bakari Evelyn, 6'2, PG, Gilbert (Christian) AZ - We're talking about a pure point guard with good ball handling and passing skills, the ability to run a team, and the understanding of what it takes to win.  He led Southfield (Christian) MI to three straight Class D Michigan State Titles prior to moving to Arizona before his senior year.  He also appears to be an excellent late addition to the University of Nebraska's recruiting class.

Sam Finley, 6'2, PG, Howwrd (JC) TX - We're talking about a silky smooth point guard with excellent court vision, good ball handling and passing skills, and the ability to score to the tune of 17 ppg this past season.  He also has plenty of experience after also being named the Big West Conference Sixth Man-of-the-Year year before last at UC-Riverside and he is expected to step in and make an immediate impact at Ole Miss.

Jarrey Foster, 6'4, WF, Houston (North Shore) TX - We're talking about a long athletic wing forward with a silky smooth demeanor and he makes a living playing above the rim and finishing through contact.  We also expect him to blossom into a nice player at SMU.

Deshawn Freeman, 6'7, WF, Hutchinson (JC) KS - He's more of a slasher than a shooter, but he's ranked among the top junior college players in the nation and is expected to step in and make an immediate impact next year at Rutgers.  He's capable of playing either forward spot and he has a high motor, can defend either forward spot, and gets after it on the boards.

Ron Freeman, 6'5, WF, Harbor City (Future College Prep) CA - This 6'5 wing forward is a 5th Year Player and his length, athleticism, versatility, and ability to knock down the outside shot make him an excellent late addition to Kansas State's recruiting class.

Rob Gray, 6'2, PG, Howard (JC) TX - He's versatile enough to play either guard spot, but what makes him such a great catch for the University of Houston is the fact that he's an excellent outside shooter and he's good enough to be ranked #18 iin the junior college ranks by 247 Sports.com.

Jamall Gregory, 6'3, 2G, Delray Beach (Elev8 Basketball Academy) FL - He's best known for his athleticism and ability to electrify fans with spectacular dunks.  However, he also rebounds extremely well for his size, continues to improve his outside shooting, and could end up being a major surprise when he suits up next season at South Carolina.

Aric Holman, 6'9, C, Owensboro (H.S.) KY - Holman has a chance to blossom into an impact player at Mississippi State due to his combination of skills and athleticism, ability to run the floor, and the fact that he still is long way away from reaching his upside and potential.

Igor Ibaka, 6'9, C, Northeastern Oklahoma (JC) OK - He sat out this past season, but averaged 13.7 ppg and 9.6 rpg as a freshman in the junior college ranks year before last and promises to be a physical presence in the post with his ability to rebound, screen, post-up, and knock down the mid-range shot when suits up for Oklahoma State next season.

Kimani Jackson, 6'7, PF, New Mexico (JC) NM.- He only averaged 8.0 ppg and 5.8 rpg this past season, but this 6'8, 230-pound physical specimen has three years of eligibility remaining, his upside is off the chart, and, along with Emmanuel Omagbo, he appears to be exactly what the doctor ordered to help fill the void inside next season at Colorado State.

Kelvin Jones, 6'11, C, Hobbs (H.S.) NM - He averaged 14.7 ppg, 9.9 rpg, and 3.2 bpg this past season and there is talk about the possibility that he may continue to grow.  On the other hand, it does not look like he's ready to step in and make an immediate impact at UTEP and, as a result, he is expected to red-shirt next year.

Isaiah Maurice, 6'9, PF, Durham (Bull City) NC - This 6'9 stretch four-man has an excellent skill-set, the versatility necessary to play multiple positions, and excellent length and footwork at the defensive end.  However, it's the fact that he's one of those under the radar screen/late bloomers that makes him such a good catch for Kansas State.

Kendal Manuel, 6'4, 2G, Billings (Skyview) MT - This 6'4 2-guatd is best known for his outside shooting and ability up prolific numbers.  However, fact that he has deceptive athleticism and is young for his class makes him even more intriguing.  He also promises to be a good role player for Oregon State.

Akolda Manyang, 7'0, C, Indian Hills (JC) IA - at 7'0, 250-pounds, Manyang is a physical specimen who rebounds, blocks shots, and has a soft touch around the basket.  He also continues to improve his ability to step out and hit score from 12 feet, is good enough to be ranked as one of the top junior college players in the nation, and is a major addition for the University of Oklahoma.

Jeremiah Martin, 6'1, PG, Memphis (Mitchell) TN -  He originally picked Louisiana Tech, but recently reneged on that decision and is now is bound for the University of Memphis.  He has good ball handling and passing skills,  knows how to use his speed and quickness to get to the basket, and can ock his man up defensively.

Ryan McMahon, 6'1, 2G, Sarasota (Cardinal Mooney) FL -  The University of Louisville was the highest level school to offer and it didn't take this sharp shooting combo guard long to pull the trigger with regard to making a verbal commitment to the Cardinals.  He has a high basketball IQ, knows how to compete, and projects as a solid role player at the big time college level.

Jack McVeigh, 6'8, WF, Australian Institute of Sport, Australia - McVeigh has established himself as one of the top international players in the world and is a major coup for the University of Nebraska due to the fact that he shoots the ball extremely well, has a knack for being able to find ways to score, and possesses a great nose for the ball and is an excellent rebounder.

Kyle Meyer, 6'10, C, Eastern Florida State (JC) FL - This 6'10, 225-pound University of Houston-bound big man has good skills and toughness in the post, can both score around the basket and step out and hit the three, and he was good enough this past season to take home Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American honors.

Lee Moore, 6'4, 2G, Wallace State (JC) AL - We're talking about a super athletic who knows how to make a living both slashing to the basket and knocking down the three from out to NBA 3-point range.  He also has a knack for coming up with more than his share of big plays at the defensive end and is expected to evolve into the next great player to play for Miners head coach Tim Floyd.

Mychal Mulder, 6'5, 2G, Vincennes (JC) IN - Mulder is best known for his outside shooting (he shot 46.3% from behind the arc for one of the top junior college teams in the nation).  However, he also is good enough to have taken home First Team All-American honors this past season in the junior college ranks and he has the speed, quickness, and athleticism necessary to attack  the basket, thrive in an up tempo setting, and step in and make an immediate impact next year for the University of Kentucky.

Federico Mussini, 6'1, PG, Italy - This prolific scoring combo guard is supposed to be the best player his age in Italy and he averaged 22.6 ppg and shot 42.9% from 3-point land last summer in the  FIBA 18-Under Championships last summer.  He also had nine points and three assists in the NIKE Hoop Summit and is expected to step in and make an immediate impact next year at St. John's..

Teyvon Myers, 6'3, 2G, Williston State (JC) ND - This 6'3 athletic 2-guard appears to be exactly what the doctor ordered for Bobby Huggins at West Virginia.  Not only was Myers the leading scorer in the junior college ranks with 25 ppg, but he also shot 45% from the field, 37% from behind the arc, and 85% from the foul line this past season.

Ikenna Okwarabizie, 6'11, C, Tyler (JC) TX - He's not a finished product and his defense is way ahead of his offensive, but he's extremely athletic, he knows what he is (a true center), and he rebounds, blocks out, and knows how to use his body at the defensive end.  He will probably red-shirt after he enrolls at UCLA this fall,  but has a chance to evolve into a good player down the road.

Emmanuel Omagbo, 6'8, PF, South Plains ((JC) TX - We're talking about an athletic 4-man who averaged a double-double with 17.0 ppg and 10.1 rpg, took home Second Team NJCAA All-American honors, and led his team to a runner-up finish in the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, KS.  Obviously he is an important catch for Colorado State.

Darius Paul, 6'8, PF, Lamar State (JC) TX - This 6'8 athletic 4-man is another one of those guys that has gotten a chance to resurrect his career after spending some time with John Lucas in Houston.  He has a tough hardnosed demeanor, is aggressive on the boards, and should be a force to be reckoned with when he re-enrolls at the University of Illinois this fall.

Christian Romine, 6'10, C, Mahomet (Mahomet-Seymour) IL - He's more of a project than a finished product right now, but he has the length, frame, and athleticism necessary to evolve into a good rebounder and shot blocker and become a physical presence in the post.  He signed with UTEP during the Fall Signing Period.

Nikola Scekic, 7'0, C, West Oaks (Max My Game) FL - At 7'0, 245-pounds, were talking about a physical specimen in the post, plus he can also step out and knock down the mid-range and long range jump shot.  He also is good enough to have considered turning pro and playing professionally overseas prior to casting his lot with the University of New Mexico.

Dante Scott, 6'5, 2G, Bradenton (IMG Academy) FL - Scott was a 5th Year Player this past season, but that doesn't diminish the fact that, whether it be using his athleticism to slash to the basket, pulling up from mid-range, or beating you with his outside shooting, he can flat out score.  He also is a good late addition for the University of Memphis.

Yankuba Sima, 6'11, C, Delray Beach (Elev8 Basketball Academy) FL - This 6'11 shot blocking big man runs the court extremely well and is wiry strong, tough on the boards, and does most of his damage offensively scores off tip-ins, put-backs, and dunks.  He will need to get bigger and stronger physically, but appears to be exactly what the doctor ordered for the new regime at St. John's..

Kamau Stokes, 5'11, PG, Fork Union (Military) VA - He's really more of a scorer than a facilitator, but this undersized combo guard has excellent speed and quickness, is explosive in transition, and makes a living slashing to the basket and beating you with his outside shooting.  He also was one of the more undervalued players in the prep school ranks this past season and is exactly what the doctor ordered for Kansas State.

Joseph Struggs, 6'9, C, Montgomery (Carver) AL - He still has a long way to go in terms of his development, but it's hard not to like the way he uses his quickness and athleticism to play above the rim, rebound, block shots, and defend.  He's also a good catch for Mississippi State.

Charlie Thomas, 6'8, PF, Clarksville (River Hill) MD. - We're talking about another one of those under the radar screen kind of guys who is expected to bring his rebounding and shot blocking to the table and be a "glue guy" at the University of Wisconsin.

Noah Togiai, 6'5, 2G, West Valley City (Hunter ) UT - He plans to play both football and basketball at Oregon State and what this high flying athletic 2-guard does best on the hardwood is go strong to the basket, play with a lot of energy, and crash the boards.

Antonio Vrankovic, 6'9, C, Boca Raton (Pine Crest) FL - His Dad played five season in the NBA, he's grown several inches in the last year, and he averaged 25 ppg and 16 rpg this past season.  However, he's one of those under the radar screen guys and his level of competition in high school has been suspect, which makes us wonder whether he'll ever be more than just a good role player at Duke.

Grant Weatherford, 6'2, PG, Arcadia (H.S.) IN - This 6'2 combo guard is like a jack-of-all-trades and he brings that good old-fashioned toughness to the table that goes along with also being a darn good football player and, as a result, he should fit in perfectly to the scheme of things for the Purdue Boilermakers.

Christian Williams, 6'6, 2G, Decatur (St. Teresa) IL - He has good length and athleticism, is versatile enough to play the one, two, and the three spots, and has a knack for being able to put up prolific numbers.  He also is one of those under the radar screen kind of guys and, as a result, we suspect that Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery and his staff may have stolen another one.

Darien Williams, 6'7, PF,  San Francisco (JC) CA - This 6'7 athletic combo forward brings a lot of versatility to the table, thanks to his ability to put the ball on the floor, shoot the three, score around the basket, and rebound and blocks shots.  He also is recognized as one of the top junior college players in the nation and appears to be a great catch for St. John's.
